Each test was selected to evaluate critical performance aspects for server functionality. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of each test, the commands I used, and what the results mean for potential users of Webdock’s hosting services.
The Disk Speed Test measures the server’s NVMe SSD performance in handling read and write operations.
This is crucial for understanding the efficiency of data storage and retrieval on the server, impacting applications that regularly read from or write to storage, such as content management systems, databases, or data logging services.
To measure write speed, I used:
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile bs=1G count=4 oflag=direct
To measure read speed, I used:
sudo dd if=testfile of=/dev/null bs=1G count=4
Results:

Write Speed (2.6 GB/s): This speed reflects how quickly the server can store data on the disk. The high write speed is impressive, especially for tasks that require large, continuous data storage, such as backups or logging. With 2.6 GB/s, the server can handle significant data loads without delay, making it optimal for applications that log events or manage high volumes of uploads. It’s worth noting that such speeds are excellent for SSDs, especially NVMe types, which are built for high-speed data transfer.
Read Speed (559 MB/s): This indicates how fast data can be retrieved from storage. A read speed of 559 MB/s is more than adequate for applications that involve frequent data access, like website content management, databases, and file sharing. Although lower than the write speed, this is still within the high-performance range, ensuring quick data retrieval. This translates to faster page load times, quick database data access, and smoother user experiences on content-driven sites.
Conclusion: This configuration is ideal for high-performance applications, such as e-commerce platforms with dynamic content, large databases, or multimedia sites hosting high-definition files.
The CPU Benchmark assesses the computational strength of the server’s CPU, specifically the AMD Epyc® processor. This test is crucial for applications that require heavy processing power, such as data analysis, image processing, or running complex calculations.
I performed the CPU test using:
sysbench cpu --cpu-max-prime=20000 runThis command pushes the CPU to calculate prime numbers up to 20,000, a task that requires intensive computation and gives insight into the server’s ability to handle high-load processing.
Results:

Events per second (1514.25): This indicates how many tasks the CPU can handle in a second. With over 1500 events per second, the CPU showcases strong multitasking capabilities, ideal for applications involving high concurrency, like handling multiple user requests or processing complex data operations simultaneously.
Latency: Low latency figures (sub-1ms on average) mean the CPU responds almost instantly to requests, ensuring smooth performance across high-demand applications. This low response time minimizes delays in operations, which is essential for real-time applications such as video streaming or live data processing.
Conclusion: This setup is well-suited for data-intensive applications, server-side rendering, and real-time data processing. It also benefits scenarios involving batch processing or any operation requiring high compute cycles, such as machine learning model training.
The Memory Test evaluates the server’s RAM performance, measuring how quickly it can handle data read/write operations.
Memory speed is essential for quick data access, particularly in-memory databases, caching systems, or applications with frequent temporary data storage.
I conducted the memory test using:
sysbench memory run
This command runs memory operations over 102,400 MB, providing a clear picture of the RAM’s handling speed.
Results:

Total Operations: With 6 million operations per second, the server’s RAM exhibits high-speed data handling capabilities. This is crucial for applications with heavy data needs, where data is frequently read from or written to memory.
Transfer Rate: A nearly 6 GB per second transfer rate highlights the RAM’s efficiency in transferring data between memory and the CPU. This is beneficial in environments requiring quick data retrieval, such as caching, in-memory databases, or applications with high user traffic.
Conclusion: With such a high memory speed, this Webdock server is well-suited for memory-intensive applications, including high-traffic websites, large-scale databases, or apps with substantial caching needs. It’s a reliable choice for businesses that need quick data access to support their services.
It’s ideal for applications with high caching needs, such as CMS-based websites with caching layers, in-memory databases like Redis, or services with high session management requirements.
Next is the database performance test. This test evaluates the MySQL database performance, focusing on how well the server manages read/write queries. It’s critical for applications with a high database workload, like e-commerce sites, social media platforms, or CRM systems.
I carried out the test with these commands:
Preparation:
sysbench --db-driver=mysql --mysql-user=admin --mysql-password=W55NBggcvpE4 --mysql-db=server30 oltp_read_write prepare
Execution:
sysbench --db-driver=mysql --mysql-user=admin --mysql-password=W55NBggcvpE4 --mysql-db=server30 oltp_read_write run
Cleanup:
sysbench --db-driver=mysql --mysql-user=admin --mysql-password=W55NBggcvpE4 --mysql-db=server30 oltp_read_write cleanup
Results:

Transactions and Queries per Second: The server can handle a high volume of database operations with nearly 286 transactions per second and over 5700 queries per second. This capacity is vital for applications that require fast and efficient database transactions, ensuring quick data retrieval and updates without delays.
Latency: Low latency ensures that the server processes queries quickly, reducing delays in data access. This is especially beneficial for real-time applications and high-traffic environments where minimizing lag is critical.
Conclusion: Webdock’s server is well-equipped to manage substantial database workloads, with consistent reading and writing performance. It’s ideal for websites or applications with frequent database queries, such as online stores, media platforms, and SaaS applications.
The Global Ping Test measures network latency from multiple locations worldwide. This helps evaluate how quickly users in different regions experience response times when accessing the server.
Low latency is essential for globally accessible applications, as it directly impacts load times and user experience, particularly for real-time applications or services catering to international audiences.
Using Check Host, I initiated a ping test for the server IP 92.XXX.XXX.87 across various international locations. The tool provides each region’s minimum, average, and maximum round-trip times (RTT), offering insights into latency and connection quality.
Here’s an overview of the response times across key locations:

Europe: The server achieved exceptionally low latency across Europe, especially in Germany, Netherlands, and France, with times generally under 30 ms. This low latency indicates that users within Europe will experience near-instant response times, which is ideal for websites and applications targeted at European audiences.
Asia: Latency was higher for locations in Asia, with Japan and Indonesia showing higher values around 268 ms and 274 ms, respectively. However, Hong Kong and India had relatively moderate latencies (199 ms and 143 ms for Mumbai), suggesting acceptable performance for Asian users but with some delay due to the distance.
Americas: For users in North and South America, latency ranged between 100 and 203 ms. For example, Atlanta had a latency of around 109 ms, while Sao Paulo had a higher latency of 203 ms. While not as fast as Europe, these are still reasonable times, indicating solid performance for American audiences. However, slight delays may be noticeable for interactive or real-time applications.
Conclusion: This server is well-suited for businesses or applications primarily targeting a European user base due to the low latency in Europe. However, users in Asia and the Americas will experience moderate delays, which may impact real-time applications like gaming or video conferencing but would still be acceptable for web browsing and general content access.

Speed – When we talk about a host server’s speeds, we refer to its “time to first byte” (TTFB), basically how quickly the server sends the first byte of data to a site visitor. If the TTFB of a host is higher, then your site will be delivered quickly to the user. Uptime is the host server’s “online time” within a time period, and the higher the uptime, the more reliable the host (higher uptime = less downtime). High uptimes mean your site will be active most of the time. Loading time – the average loading time of the website shows how long it takes till your site is fully rendered and functional (i.e. can be clicked). Fast page load time means your site is well-optimized. These three factors impact the overall performance of your site on the host.
