We did a little research before the interview, and we noticed that Snel is more than 10 years on the market. Can you tell us a bit more about the story behind Snel?

Snel.com was founded by Musti Aslan in 2010. The owner has been active in the hosting industry since 1999. He started his first hosting company when he was 18 years old. His first hosting company was serving local customers, but he wanted to take a different approach and serve customers worldwide. Together with his partner Yavuz Aydin they decided to focus on dedicated hosting. Throughout the years they have made a switch to cloud hosting and services like managed hosting due to changing technology and types of customers.

What were the challenges that you faced at the beginning?

The challenges faced in the beginning was to identify what types of customers we wanted to serve and what shifts we had to make in our business model to achieve this.

What are the main products and services that you are offering?

We offer a variety of products, but we mainly focus on offering

and Managed servers. We focus on making server management easy and we also focus on providing the best customer service. This is also the reason why we attract customers who purchase managed services.

We noticed that you are certified with ISO/EIC 27001. Can you tell us a bit more about this certification and why it’s important to have it?

With our ISO 27001 certification, we can guarantee our customers that we are committed to continuously improve our information processes, security measures, and IT systems. Furthermore, all our taken security measures and policies will be periodically tested. This makes us able to ensure that our products, services and infrastructure will always meet the highest security standards.

For the readers and customers who are not familiar with the hosting industry, what is the difference between dedicated servers and VPS?

A VPS is almost identical to a dedicated server. The main difference is that the resources of the server such as CPU, RAM, storage will be split between different virtual servers. You can choose a

when you want to start small without making big investments. A VPS offers more flexibility than a dedicated server in terms of upgrading or downgrading to another plan. Like the name is already suggesting, a dedicated server is a server that is completely dedicated to yourself. It is also known as a ‘bare-metal-server’ which has a single single ‘tenant’. The resources are not shared between customers. So, the dedicated server is entirely allocated to the customer who is renting it.

Snel means fast in English. How important is speed for your customers and why are they picking you when it comes to speed?

Having fast response times and offering fast hosting solutions are necessary in the hosting industry. Companies could lose their money or reputation when the response is not fast enough. Therefore, we make sure that we do not only respond to questions quickly, but we also provide a solution instantly. This can of course differ per situation, but this is the main reason why customers are choosing Snel.com. They do not only get a quick response they get a solution.

What are the top 5 things that Snel is different from the competition?

There are few things that are different, we are an organization with short communication lines between our customers. This allows us to create a personal relationship with our customers. We are friendly. This may seem as something natural but most IT people do not communicate in an understandable language which affects the quality of customer service. We are fast in our response times. Furthermore, we also offer tailor made solutions, we always try to think of best possible ways to help the customer with his needs.

We are in the middle of  2021 and entering 2022. What are your plans for 2022 in terms of introducing new products and services?

In 2022 we are going to expand our products with Microsoft 365 and Email hosting. The world is digitizing, and the work behaviour of employers and employees are changing. We want to provide tools that make this transformation easier for companies.

Where do you see Snel in the next 10 years?

In the future, we would like to be a leading managed hosting provider in cloud hosting services. We would like to solely focus on delivering managed hosting services to give our customers peace of mind.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the hosting community?

I think we already said everything. Thank you very much for having us.
